Innovation

Innovation can be described as a new idea, device or method. One tool that has been used to facilitate innovation is Design thinking.

Design Thinking is defined as a method that allows people  to generate innovative solutions based on the needs of end users. As a result,  Design thinking is becoming widely adopted by businesses to create innovative solutions to complex problems that stem from a human-centred approach.

What will children learn?

In this skill, students learn to systematically formulate and test ideas that can solve problems and have impact on their real world contexts. In these lessons, your students will solve contextual and non-contextual problems by applying the key principles of effective Design Thinking:

  1. Empathize
  2. Define
  3. Ideate
  4. Prototype
  5. Test
  6. Publish

The lessons will allow students to succeed and fail resiliently, work with others, develop their inquisitive minds, create and critique their solutions and most importantly, to believe in their ability to impact the world around them.  It is for this reason this valuable skill has a reach and life span way beyond the classroom.
